Simple Chicken Curry Recipe

This Chicken Curry is easy to make and can be served with Chapati , Rice, Roti or Naan

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg Chicken
  • 1 x Onion
  • 1 x Bay Leaf (Curry Leaves)
  • 2 inch Cinnamon Piece
  • 4 cloves
  • 3 green Cardamoms (powder – option)
  • 1 x Green Chill Pepper (Option)
  • 1 tbs ginger paste/minced
  • 1 tbp Garlic paste/minced
  • 1/2 cup Tomatoes
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • sea salt to taste
  • 1 tsp chill powder (option)
  • 1/4 cup of yogurt
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 2 TBS chopped coriander/mint leaves
  • 1/2- 3/4 Cup of hot water/broth

Method

  1. Add very finely chopped Onion, Chopped green Chill Pepper, sauté the onions till they turn golden.
  2. Add ginger and garlic mince/paste, sauté for 2-3 minutes until the smell disappears completely .
  3. Add Tomatoes, turmeric and sea salt, cook the tomatoes until the raw smell has gone.
  4. Add red chill powder, yogurt and Sautee on medium heat until the mixture become thick
  5. Now add Chicken, garam masala, coriander powder and chopped coriander leaves or mint leaves.  Sauté for 3-4 min or until the chicken turns pale
  6. Cover and cook for 3-40 minutes then pour hot water or  broth (warm up) then cover and cook on a low to medium heat until soft and tender. Add sea salt to taste, garam masala if needed
  7. When cooked ass some coriander leaves for garnish and serve with Chapati , Rice, Roti or Naan
