Writing bureau upcycle

I have started collecting Vintage/Antique furniture and restore them. Upcycling is fun however try to avoid touching up expensive or sentimental pieces until you’ve practiced on similar surfaces.

I have learn that preparation is the key.

  • make sure you wipe down all surfaces with a damp cloth before you start work.
  • Give yourself the time and space to complete a project.
  • Get all the tools you’ll need throughout to hand before you start.
  • If the furniture has treatment or nasty paint be sure to sand down and use a primer.

Cleaned down the furniture, removed the hardware (drawer knobs) and then sanded down.

Applied Prime/undercoat paint. Then apply the paint of your choice.

After few coats (make sure you let the paint dry in between) then I applied a black paint (sort of drybrush). However, I use a cloth to apply rather than brush in this case
Drybrush is a painting technique in which a paint brush that is relatively dry, but still holds paint, is used. Load is applied to a dry support such as paper or primed canvas. The resulting brush strokes have a characteristic scratchy look that lacks the smooth appearance that washes or blended paint commonly have.
